3 routes for a male calf

1. to be slaughtered and end up as veal meat
2. to be castrated, put on weight and finish up as beef meat
3. to become a bull, donate his sperm, be slaughtered and become beef meat

Castration methods

1. elastic bands – placed above the testicles and removal of the withered scrotum (Elastrator)
2. Burdizzo tongs – crushing of the two spermatic cords
3. crushing – crushing of the total breadth of the scrotum
4. surgical intervention – removal of the testicles
5. chemical castration – injection or administering of medication
